Welcome
to our on-line demonstrations of Web-enabled OLAP technology.
You're
welcome to try any or all of the three industry MDDB demos
(auto insurance, homeowners' insurance, and telecommunications)
they all work the same way. Stay as long as you like,
and come back whenever you wish.
We
suggest you print out the instructions below before leaving
this page. In addition, the report table screen (described
below) has its own, separate set of Help screens available
at the touch of a button.

Choose
dimensions and analysis variables |
The
user selects one or more class variables (dimensions)
whose values will go across the table and down the
table, respectively. For example:
-
If the user selects Quarter as the "across" dimension,
then each column will represent a different quarter.
-
If the user selects Peril as the "down" dimension,
each row will represent one type of coverage.
To
make multiple selections in a single list box: Hold
down the control key as you left-click on your selections.
-
First
list box: Select a hierarchy or one or more individual
class variables for the "down" dimensions.
-
Second
list box: Select a hierarchy or one or more individual
class variables for the "down" dimensions.
-
Third
list box: Select one or more analysis variables.
Each selected variable will appear in the left-most
column of the fourth list box. Note: To remove an
analysis variable from the fourth list box, select
that item in both the third and fourth list boxes and hold
down control and left click on that variable
in the third list box.
-
Click the first of the selected analysis variables.
The available statistics are listed in the SELECTED
column. Items initially in the AVAILABLE column are
not currently calculated.
-
Use the arrow keys to move items back and forth
between AVAILABLE and SELECTED. Use the control key
when selecting multiple items to move at the same
time.
If
you select more than one analysis variable, you can
pick different statistics for each one.
-

If
you chose a hierarchy, the system displays the results for the
first class variable in that hierarchy. The value
of these variables will appear as links.

To drill down to the next level, click the value
into which you want to drill.
For
example: If you chose the hierarchy STATE > COMPANY
> TIME to go across columns, and you want to drill
down into California to see the Company level, click
the CA link in the top row of the report. The next
report will show the values of the analysis variables
for each Company, but only for California.
-
To
change any of the class variables (dimensions -
down and/or across), make different selections in
the Down and Across dimension boxes above the report.
-
DOWNLOAD
TO EXCEL: You can download the entire table to an
Excel worksheet by clicking the button with this
title.

-
HELP: Press the HELP button (the right-most button
above the table) to get on-screen help on using
